The Black Church
Over 150 years ago the Black church began in Guilford County with a group of slaves who met to worship with a deep knowingness that our peoples’ freedom was inevitable. It is in this spirit that our brick and mortar churches were built, on a foundation of Faith. Ever since that Black communities have gathered, served, organized, worshiped, and mourned within our beloved brick and mortars. The Black Church has historcally been a key institution within the pro-democracy movement.
